Enable and disable Cover Your Cost

Cover Your Cost is the feature that allows your organization to pass the payment processing fee on to the donor, in an optional and fully transparent way. When active, the donation widget shows the donor a cost breakdown, and if they choose to cover it, your organization receives 100% of the donation — no gateway fees deducted.

Step by step
Part 1 — Enable Cover Your Cost

Log in to your Afrus dashboard
Go to console.afrus.app and sign in. You'll land on the main dashboard showing your organization's key performance metrics.

Open Organization Settings
In the top-right corner, click your avatar to open the user menu. Select Organization Settings.

Go to Payment Gateways
In the left sidebar, under the PAYMENTS section, click Payment Gateways. You'll see the list of all available gateways.

Find your active payment gateway and click Configure
Scroll through the list to find your active payment gateway. If it's already set up, it will show a green Configured status. Click the Configure button on the right.
💡 The payment gateway must be previously configured. If it doesn't show as "Configured", contact the Afrus team.

Enable the "Activate Cover Your Cost" toggle
In the gateway configuration modal, you'll see your credentials and the Cover Your Cost section with a toggle set to off. Click it to enable it (it will turn blue). Two informational fields will appear:
• Afrus fee (%): XX%
• Gateway fee (%): XX%

Save your changes
Click the blue Save button. You'll see a green notification confirming: "Payment gateway updated successfully".

Done! The donation widget will now show donors the option to cover transaction costs. If they accept, your organization receives 100% of the donation.
Part 2 — Disable Cover Your Cost

Return to the Payment Gateway settings
Follow steps 1 through 4 from the previous section: Organization Settings → Payment Gateways → Configure.

Turn off the "Activate Cover Your Cost" toggle
In the modal, find the Cover Your Cost section with the toggle on (blue). Click it to turn it off (it will turn grey). The fee fields will disappear automatically.
⚠️ Once disabled, the widget will immediately stop showing the cost-covering option to donors after saving.

Save your changes
Click Save and confirm the green notification. The widget will return to showing only the base donation amount.

Cover Your Cost has been disabled. Donors will only see the base donation amount, with no transaction cost breakdown.
