To connect your account, you need the following ready in Meta:
Verified Business PortfolioYour Business Portfolio must be verified in Meta.
WhatsApp Business numberA number already validated in your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).
Payment methodSet up inside your WhatsApp Business Account in Meta.
Meta-approved templateIf you don't have one yet, you can create it from afrus (see how below).
From the hamburger menu in the afrus console, go to WhatsApp Business Blast. There you'll see the requirements for the connection.
In Meta, make sure your Business Portfolio shows as verified, then open the WhatsApp accounts section to confirm your account is ready.
In Meta, add a new WhatsApp Business account and follow the steps Meta gives you. Only continue once your portfolio is approved, your number is validated, and your account is set up.
Go back to afrus, click Connect with Facebook and then Continue. Choose the Business Portfolio that holds your WhatsApp Business Account and click Next.
Select the option to use a new or existing number, pick the number you already set up in Meta, click Next, and confirm.
Click Finish. afrus will verify the connection and ask you to send a successful test message to complete it.
If you haven't created a template yet, that requirement will also show in red. That's expected: you'll fix it in the next section.
At the bottom, enter a valid number with its country code and send the test message. It will arrive as long as that WhatsApp doesn't block messages from Business accounts.
!Important: create your test template first
Without an approved template, afrus won't let you send the test message that completes the connection. So if you don't have one yet, create your first template by following the Create a WhatsApp template section below.
This first template must be plain text only:
It can be as simple as:Welcome to [Foundation Name].
Once you get the message, go to the dashboard: everything will show as connected. If you already have an approved template, you're ready to send bulk WhatsApp messages.
If you don't have a Meta-approved template yet, create it from afrus.
In afrus, in the WhatsApp Business - Blast section, go to Templates and click Create template.
Before writing, review the guidelines so Meta approves your template:
Write your message (for example: "Hi, thank you so much for joining…") and when you're done, click Send to Meta.
Meta will review the template. Sometimes it's approved within minutes; other times it takes a bit longer. Meanwhile it will show as pending, and once it's ready you'll see the Approved status.
Keep in mind: to send bulk messages, you need both the completed connection and at least one Meta-approved template.
