How to create a WhatsApp Business template

To message a contact first on WhatsApp Business you need a template approved by Meta. Labels are shown as they appear in the Spanish console.

Before you start

• Your WhatsApp Business account must be connected to AFRUS.

Step by step

1. Open the templates. In WhatsApp Business > Blast, section Plantillas de WhatsApp Meta, click "Crear plantilla" (Create template).
2. Fill in the basic information. Type the Nombre de la plantilla (template name: lowercase letters, numbers and underscores, starting with a letter), choose the Categoría (Marketing, Utilidad — Utility — or Autenticación — Authentication) and the Idioma del mensaje (language). Click "Continuar".
3. Add media (optional). Under Contenido multimedia choose Imagen, Video or Documento and click "Subir" (Upload). It replaces the text header.
4. Write the message. Fill in the Encabezado (header, optional, up to 60 characters) and the Cuerpo del mensaje (body, up to 1024). Use variables like {{1}} to personalize.
5. Add a footer and buttons (optional). Pie de página (footer, up to 60 characters) and Botones: Personalizado (quick reply), Ir al sitio web (website) or Llamar por teléfono (call), up to 25 characters per button.
6. Send to Meta. Check the Vista previa (preview) and click "Enviar a Meta".

You will see "Plantilla enviada para aprobación" (Template sent for approval) and the template will be Pendiente (Pending). According to the screen, Meta takes between 5 minutes and 24 hours to review it.
