Payments and donations

Cargo (charge)

Each charge of a monthly (recurring) donation. Every month, or every subscription cycle, creates a new charge.

Where you see it in Afrus: Transacciones (Transactions), Tipo filter (Cargos).

Contracargo (chargeback)

What it is, in general: it happens when a donor doesn't recognize a charge on their card, disputes it with their bank, and the bank gives them the money back. Unlike a refund, your organization doesn't decide it: the donor's bank does.

What Afrus does: transactions with the Contracargo status don't appear in Transacciones.

Cover your cost (CYC)

An option that lets the donor also pay the payment gateway's fee, so your organization receives the full donation. Afrus has to turn it on for your organization.

Where you see it in Afrus: in Transacciones, the CYC tag next to the amount and the CYC filter.

Cupón (coupon)

A code that lowers the minimum amount needed to receive an incentive (gift). It doesn't change what the donor is charged, and each person can use it only once.

Where you see it in Afrus: in a campaign's Incentivos tab, Cupones section.

Fraud and Radar

A transaction marked as fraud is a payment that your team (or the Afrus team) identified as not legitimate. The Radar is the list of those transactions.

Watch out: marking a transaction as fraud also deletes the related people from your database.

Where you see it in Afrus: Follow up > Radar - monitor de fraude.

Incentivo (incentive)

A gift your organization offers to people who donate a minimum amount, such as a book or a digital certificate. You'll also see it called obsequio, regalo or recompensa (gift, reward).

Where you see it in Afrus: Fundraising > Incentivos and the Incentivos tab of each campaign.

Link de pago (payment link)

A personalized link you email to someone so they can donate a set amount (or the amount they choose), once or monthly.

Where you see it in Afrus: Follow up > Links de pago.

Pasarela de pago (payment gateway)

The service that charges your organization's donations. It processes the card, Pix, boleto or other payment method the donor uses.

Where you see it in Afrus: Ajustes de organización > Pasarelas de pago.

Pendiente de confirmación (pending confirmation)

A transaction status that your team must confirm or reject by hand, with Confirmar transacción (Confirm transaction) or Rechazar transacción (Reject transaction).

Where you see it in Afrus: Transacciones, Estado (Status) column.

Recurrente (recurring)

A donation that is charged automatically on a regular basis, usually every month. It's the "parent" record of a subscription; each charge it creates is a Cargo.

Where you see it in Afrus: Suscripciones (Subscriptions).

Reembolso (refund)

Giving a donor their money back. You do it from Transacciones: the row's three-dot menu > Reembolsar (Refund) > "Confirmar". The full amount is always returned and it can't be undone.

Where you see it in Afrus: the transaction changes to Reembolsado (Refunded).

Sobreventa (oversold)

It happens when a donor paid for an incentive just as the stock ran out. The gift is assigned anyway and the donation is marked Sobreventa, so your team can decide how to handle it.

Where you see it in Afrus: in the incentive's detail and in the transaction.

Suscripción (subscription)

A person's monthly (recurring) donation. Each row in Suscripciones is one subscription; its monthly charges appear in Transacciones.

Where you see it in Afrus: Suscripciones.

Transacción (transaction)

Each payment your organization receives: a one-time donation or a charge of a monthly donation, with its status, amount, gateway, campaign and source widget.

Where you see it in Afrus: Transacciones.

Única (one-time)

A donation that is charged only once.

Where you see it in Afrus: Transacciones, Tipo filter (Unicas).
